Where Did The Mojito Cocktail Come From And Are Mojitos Healthy?
History says that the Mojito dates back to the 1500s in Cuba. It was said that local native people used the ingredients for different ailments. Sir Francis Drake and his crew brought this medicinal tonic back with them after leaving Havana.
Today’s Mojito contains vitamin C which helps boost immunity, plus the mint and lime juice can aid in digestion. However, keep in mind that it still contains alcohol.
What Is The Best Mint For Mojitos?
One of the first questions I get asked is what type of mint I use in my Mojitos. I only use Spearmint (Mentha Spicata).
I grow it in my herb garden so it is fresh all summer. But be careful where you plant it as it will spread like crazy.
I also have a favorite muddler I enjoy using. The link is below.
