Fresh cocktails are made with fresh, seasonal fruits, which are muddled or blended with ice and other ingredients to create a delicious and refreshing drink.

Why Choose Fresh Cocktails?

There are several reasons why you should choose fresh cocktails over other types of alcoholic beverages.

Second, fresh cocktails are often lower in calories than other types of cocktails, which makes them a great choice for those who are watching their weight. However, I didn’t choose my recipes to be low-calorie.

My Own Fresh Experience

I was taught the art of fresh cocktailing by a bartender years ago at our resort in St. Maarten. 

We were all sitting at the beach bar enjoying ‘Happy Hour’ and I asked the bartender what that delicious-looking drink was that he just served someone else.

He explained to me that it was a Mango Daiquiri and gave me a sample he had left in the blender. I thought it was delicious and ordered one for myself. 

He then went on to explain that when you use fresh mangos it makes all the difference in the taste. I got to sample one using fresh ingredients along with one made with mango syrup he had behind the bar and the difference blew me away!

It wasn’t so sugary sweet but really fresh and a little lighter. I was hooked! To this day I like to make my own mango daiquiris and margaritas with fresh ingredients.

Banana Daiquiri Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 3 ½  oz Coconut Rum
  • 1 ¼ oz Cointreau
  • 2 ripe bananas (sliced)
  • 1 ½  oz fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz simple syrup
  • 2 cups ice (crushed)

Preparation

To make a Banana Daiquiri, follow these simple steps:

  1. Peel and slice the banana and add it to a blender.
  2. Add the coconut rum, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup to the blender.
  3. Add the ice to the blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Pour the Banana Daiquiri into a glass and garnish, if desired, with a slice of banana or a lime wedge.

That’s it! Your Banana Daiquiri is ready to enjoy. Cheers!

I have always loved a good rum cocktail. As I mentioned earlier, I first learned how to make this Mango Daiquiri in St. Maarten. I truly enjoy the change from the normal strawberry daiquiri (which I love as well).

  • 4 oz Aged or Dark Rum
  • 2 oz Cointreau
  • 2 oz lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp Simple Syrup
  • 2 Cups Fresh Mangos (cut in chunks – can be frozen)
  • 2 cup ice cubes

Preparation

To make a Mango Daiquiri, follow these simple steps:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour into chilled glasses.
  4. Garnish with a slice of fresh mango.

Strawberry Lemonade: Just Add Vodka – Or Not!

What I like most about this summer cocktail is that you can easily make it into a Mocktail for those in your group choosing not to partake in alcohol. They can still enjoy the same drink with no extra fuss. Either way, it is a deliciously refreshing summer cocktail.

Strawberry Lemonade Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 2)

To make a fresh glass of strawberry lemonade, you will need:

  • 4 oz Vodka
  • 12 fresh strawberries (sliced)
  • 1 tsp simple syrup
  • ¾ Cup Simply Strawberry Lemonade
  • Ice

Preparation

Follow these simple steps to make a delicious glass of strawberry lemonade:

  1. Wash and slice your strawberries.
  2. In two glasses add 4 strawberries each,  ½ tsp simple syrup, and muddle
  3. Add ice to each glass, then vodka, and top with strawberry lemonade.
  4. Stir then garnish with remaining strawberry slices.
  5. For the Mocktail version omit the vodka – I told you it was easy!
