Drinks To Boost Your Mood Pink Cocktail

Find The Best Cocktails To Boost Your Mood

How Does Alcohol Affect You?

Can drinking one of your favorite alcoholic beverages improve your mood? Are there drinks to get you in the mood? Let’s try some cocktails to boost your mood and others just to enjoy.

Can An Alcoholic Beverage Change Your Mood In 5 Minutes Or Less?

Alcohol is a funny beast. For some people it lets them relax their inhibitions, for others it makes them happy, weepy, and sloppy  (I could go on and on). We are all individuals with our own responses.

I have noticed that many times alcohol will escalate your already natural feelings or emotions. Your mood can change in less than 5 minutes.

For me, alcohol makes me relax most of the time but Tequila jazzes me up.  However, I have found when I drink wine I get more emotional.

What Does Alcohol Do To Your Mood?

You know when you have had one of those days, the ones where nothing goes right or you have had such pressure that you need to just cut loose? (I can see you nodding right now!)

Do you reach for cocktails to boost your mood? Or does an ice-cold beer do it for you?

That first taste of your favorite beverage is just what you needed and you can feel your blood pressure going down with every other sip. That is your mood changing.

For me on one of those days, I love nothing less than something tropical. It immediately puts me in a better mood and virtually transports me to my favorite beach on my favorite island.

What Is An Aphrodisiac?

An aphrodisiac is any type of substance that increases your sexual attraction or desire. These love signals get turned on when you smell, eat, or drink those items that affect you.

Red wine has always seemed like an aphrodisiac to me. It gets me all warm and fuzzy with romantic thoughts.

Who hasn’t heard “Has chocolate or oysters ever put you in the mood?”. I have never tried oysters as I am allergic to shellfish but I have tried chocolate many times and I would have to say yes it does!

What I have always thought of these types of foods though, is that if you think you will react a certain way, then you probably will.

The associations we put with our thoughts of experiences can last a lifetime.

Let’s put it another way, you know the saying ‘Tequila makes her clothes come off’? Of course, you do –  so what came first the chicken or the egg – (Tequila or clothes flying off)?

Anyway, enough deep thoughts. Let’s get to another recipe.

What To Drink When You Are Moody? Moody Cocktails!

When I am moody, the color of things gives me very strong feelings. I tend to wear those feelings on my sleeve (or shirt, or dress).

Does the color you wear affect your mood?

One of my friends recently told me that whenever she wears the color gray she feels depressed. I concur, I used to feel that way about black (but it is very slimming so I overlook that now).

The color blue is calming for me because it reminds me of the tropical waters I love so much. (I always say it’s also because we are Michigan Wolverine fans – GO BLUE).

There are so many different blue cocktails to enjoy and usually, they are quite delicious but always very visually appealing!

You don’t always need cocktails to boost your mood. Sometimes you just want to settle into it. Check out my next recipe and see if you agree!

Moody Blues Frozen Cocktail

This cocktail packs a punch but it is oh-so-smooth. I have changed a bit of the recipe for my special allergic needs but I gave you both choices to try. Which do you like better?

2 ounces Patron Silver

½ ounce Patron XO Cafe

2 ounces Blue Citronge **

**This is made by mixing 15 drops of blue food coloring for each 1 ounce of Citronge- stir well.

½ ounce Creme de Banana

(I substitute Creme de Ananas since I am allergic to bananas and tastes similar but it is made with pineapple)

½ ounce Fresh Lemon Juice

4 ounces Sprite (or 7 Up)

2 cups ice

Lemon for garnish

Blend ingredients in a blender until you have a slushy texture. Pour into glass and garnish. Cheers!

Can Colors Change Your Mood?

We spoke about the color blue and how it affects me. Let’s talk for a moment about the color green.

When I look in the mirror the first thing I see is my green eyes. I always think green is a strong color as I have a strong personality (if you know me – you know!).

A few rooms in my home have been painted shades of green as I like the calm feeling it evokes. I do wear green occasionally for the same reason.

Green is known for feelings of calm (as I said above), and positive financial abundance. It is also known to increase positive emotions (we can all use more of that).

I don’t say this often but – GO GREEN!

Does Espresso Give You Energy? Is It Mood Boosting?

If you have ever tried espresso you know it seems to shoot right to your bloodstream with an energy boost. I don’t drink it often but when I do, my mood gets a really fast kick!

It made me think to look up the color brown (the color of an espresso bean) and found words like relaxing, reliable, honest, and wholesome. Then I thought of espresso – zoom zoom!

But, when I think of other drinks that are brown they do give me feelings of reliability, warmth, and relaxation. Let’s look at a few below:

  • Old Fashioned: Makes you feel relaxed, warm, and cozy
  • Spiked Hot Chocolate: Calm and relaxed
  • Rum and Coca-Cola (Cuba Libre): Refreshed, reliable,  happy
Espresso Martini

Espresso Martini

This is the brown drink that doesn’t follow the rules. It is strong, vibrant, and energetic. I always feel a bit naughty when I drink one because espresso is to be enjoyed only in the morning – or is it?

2 ounces Vodka

½ ounce Kahlua

1-ounce Espresso

½ ounce Simple Syrup

1-2 Espresso Beans for Garnish

Make and cool espresso. When cooled combine espresso, vodka, Kahlua, and simple syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake well for a few minutes to produce a foamy top for your martini. Strain into the martini glass slowly. Garnish with espresso beans. Go Get Em!!

Two Beer's in pint glasses
Delicious Beer

Does Beer Reduce Stress? What Does It Do To Your Mood?

Most of the beer drinkers I know are pretty laid-back and relaxed. It was always the drink that anyone could drink.

Although, beer drinking has become quite sophisticated these last few years depending on the type you choose with all of the breweries popping up everywhere.

Some beer varieties aren’t very strong so you can drink a few without any effects at all. However, if you choose one of those higher ABV (alcohol by volume) varieties watch out!

I’ve known a few people who after some beers were the “Karaoke King and sang their hearts out” or the one who “fell down multiple times and had us laughing for years”. They are the most enjoyable of all!
