The Art of Pairing a Cocktail and Cookie
This time of year I am always looking for something different to bring to a party that everyone will enjoy. I thought I would try a Cocktail and Cookie pairing for an upcoming event.
The next morning I woke up craving an oatmeal cookie. I think it was because I have been eating a lot of oatmeal lately after I had surgery and I was getting bored with the bland taste. A nice warm oatmeal cookie would really hit my sweet spot.
The Perfect Glass
Since oatmeal is a breakfast food it should fit well with my idea for a cookie and cocktail idea for this upcoming brunch. My next thought was, what cocktail would go with an oatmeal cookie? Go figure me, still in bed thinking about cocktails – it’s 5 O’Clock somewhere, right?
An Oatmeal Cookie Cocktail is Perfect
I remembered this Oatmeal Cookie Cocktail I tried a few years ago while attending a friend’s birthday party. It was an incredible creation of Baileys, Butterscotch Schnapps, Fireball, and heavy cream. This might be the ideal pairing with an oatmeal cookie.
Baking and Music Always Go Together
After a run to the grocery, I got back to my kitchen, turned on some music, and mixed up a batch of my savory oatmeal cookies from a recipe we have used many times over the years.
Blending My Cocktail Recipe
While my tasty cookies were baking I prepared the Oatmeal Cookie cocktail. I made sure to wait until the first batch was out of the oven so I could enjoy this drink chilled with a warm cookie.
After one sip and bite, I knew this is definitely a combo that will hit an 80 on the sweetness chart.
For the sweet fanatics like me, if you want to get to 100 on the sweetness chart you could add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the cookie recipe and then drizzle chocolate syrup down the inside of the glass before pouring the blended mixture inside.
Upon further thought, I decided that when I make this for the party I will make mini cookies and turn the cocktail into a shot. An Oatmeal Cookie Shot with a Cookie Kicker.
